Chapter 10
My soul [nephesh-feminine], she is loathing [naqat] my life [chay]; I will forsake [`azab] my complaint [siyach-masculine] upon [`al] myself; I will speak [dabar] in the bitterness [mar] of my soul [nephesh-feminine].
I will say [`amar] to ['el] Eloah (feminine Mighty One), "You must not be ['al] condemning [rasha`] me; You let me know [yada`] on [`al] what [mah] grounds You contending against [riyb] me.
Is it good [towb] to ['el] You that [kiy] You should oppress [`ashaq], that You should reject [ma'ac] the product [yĕgiya`-masculine] of Your palms [kaph-feminine], and that You should be shining [yapha`] upon [`al] the counsel [`etsah-feminine] of the wicked ones [rasha`]?
Have You eyes [`ayin-masculine/feminine] of flesh [basar-masculine]? or see [ra'ah] You as a mortal [`enowsh-masculine] sees [ra'ah]?
Are Your days [yom-masculine] as the days [yom-masculine] of a mortal [`enowsh-masculine]? or ['im] are Your years [shaneh-feminine] as the days [yom-masculine] of a Geber (Strong One-masculine)?
But that [kiy] You should be seeking after [baqash] my iniquity [`avon-masculine], and be enquiring after [darash] my sin [chatta'ath-feminine]?
You have knowledge [da`ath-masculine/feminine] that [kiy] I am not [lo'] wicked [rasha`]; and there is none [`ayin] that can deliver out [natsal] of Your hand [yad-feminine].
Your hands [yad-feminine] have formed [`atsab-stretched into shape thru pain] me and made [`asah-plural] me in union [yachad-masculine] from every side [cabiyb]; yet me You are swallowing up [bala`]!
Remember [zakar], please [na'], that [kiy] You did make [`asah-plural] me as the clay [chomer-masculine]; and wilt You bring me back [shuwb] into dust [`aphar-masculine]?
Have You not [lo'] poured out [nathak] me as milk [chalab-masculine], and curdled [qapha'-masculine] me like cheese [gĕbinah-feminine]?
You have clothed [labash] me with skin [`owr-masculine] and flesh [basar-masculine], and have fenced [suwk] me with bones [`etsem-feminine] and sinews [giyd-masculine].
You have made [ `asah-plural] with me life [chay] and kindness [checed-masculine], and Your Supervisor [pĕquddah-feminine], She has guarded [shamar] my spirit [ruwach-feminine].
And these things ['el-leh] have You hid [tsaphan] in Your heart [lebab-masculine-inner self]: I know [yada`] that [kiy] this [zo'th-feminine] is with [`im] You.
If ['im] I sin [chata'], then You observe [shamar] me, and You will not [lo'] clear [naqah] me from my iniquity [`avon].
If ['m] I be wicked [rasha`], woe ['alĕlay] to ['el] me; but I am righteous [tsadaq], I shall not [lo'] lift up [nasa'] my head [ro'sh-masculine]. I am full [sabea`] of dishonor [galown-masculine]; and You see [ra'ah] my affliction ['oniy-masculine]!
For he (the affliction) rises up [ga'ah]. You hunt [tsuwd] me as a black lion [shachal-masculine]: and You return [shuwb] to show Your distinguishable strength [pala'] upon me.
You renew [chadash] Your evidence [`ed-masculine] in front of [neged] me, and You increase [rabah] Your indignation [ka`ac-masculine] with [`immad] me; changes [chaliyphah-feminine] and war [tsabah'-masculine] are with [`immad] me.
Why then [mah] have You brought forth [yatsa'] me from [min] the womb [rechem-masculine]? Oh that I had expired [gava`], and no[lo'] eye [`ayin-masculine/feminine] had seen [ra'ah] me!
I should have come not [lo'] to be [hayah] as though ['asher] I had not [lo'] come to be [hayah]; I should have been carried [yabal] from [min] the womb [beten-feminine] to ['el] the tomb [qeber-masculine].
Are not [lo'] my days [yom-masculine] few [m`at]? You cease [chadal] then, and let me alone [shiyth], that I may smile [balag] a little [m`at],
Before [terem] I go [yalak] where I shall not [lo'] return [shuwb], even to ['el] the Land ['erets-feminine] of Choshek (Darkness-masculine) and Shadow of Maveth [Tsal-Maveth-Death-masculine];
A Land ['erets-feminine] of Eyphah (Dark Covering-feminine), as [kmow] Ophel (Gloom-masculine) of the Shadow of Maveth [Tsal-Maveth-Death-masculine], with no [lo'] order [ceder-masculine], and she, Eyphah (Dark Covering-feminine), is shining [yapha`] as Ophel (Gloom-masculine).
